Novena for the Living – 9 Holy Masses in Urgent Need

For what intentions is a novena for the living requested?

A novena for the living is a nine-day form of prayer in urgent need. The faithful most often request it:

• for health and strength for someone who is ill, facing an operation or undergoing treatment,
• for God's blessing and protection for a child, a marriage or a family,
• for conversion, freedom from addiction or reconciliation within a family,
• for help with a difficult decision, at work or in an exam,
• in thanksgiving for graces received.

Our Lady of Białynicze

For centuries Białynicze has been a place of prayer before the image of the Mother of God known as Our Lady of Białynicze. Before the shrine was destroyed in the 20th century, thousands of pilgrims came here, and the place was called the “Częstochowa of Belarus”. Today the parish is rebuilding the shrine, and the intentions commended through the intercession of Our Lady of Białynicze are part of this work. How to word the intention

The intention should be short and clear, for example:

• “For health and God's blessing for Anne during her treatment”,
• “For the gift of reconciliation in the Smith family”,
• “In thanksgiving for graces received, asking for continued protection for Peter and Mary”.
